Listening and Spoken Language Auditory-Verbal Therapy Mentoring

I provide international mentoring services for professionals working towards certification at Auditory-Verbal Therapists or Educators.

Mentors are certified LSL Specialist professionals who extend their experience and knowledge to help support and develop potential LSL Specialists during the application process. All applicants for the LSL Specialist certification exam must be mentored by a certified LSL Specialist over a 3-5 year period of time to become eligible to take the exam.

The role of the LSL Specialist mentor is to counsel and guide professionals seeking certification to prepare them for the LSL Specialist certification exam and to position them to be effective auditory-verbal practitioners. Mentors should review the current eligibility requirements and ensure adherence to the Principles of Certified LSL Specialists for the applicant’s intended designation. The mentor will provide structured feedback and guidance to professionals seeking certification upon observations of sessions and classes via the F-1 Form: Mentor’s Observation Form. All mentors must be currently certified as a LSLS Cert. AVT or LSLS Cert. AVEd.

Although it is recommended that applicants work with a mentor of the same intended designation when possible, LSL Specialists of either designation (LSLS Cert. AVEd or LSLS Cert. AVT) may mentor an applicant, regardless of the applicant’s intended designation.

LSL Specialist mentors can gain up to five (5) approved continuing education credits (per renewal period) for time spent working with applicants. For more information on how to document your mentored sessions toward your recertification requirements/continuing education requirements, please review the recertification requirements.”
